Do not use emulator software. I assume is a MS Windows only app, if so you will need to buy a license of MS Windows. Then you have several options. Your Mac came with Boot Camp, this will allow you to install Windows on it and run natively. The up side is it's free and extremely stable and the downside it you cannot run OS X simultaneously. The next option is to run either Parallels or VM Ware Fusion which allows you to run Windows and OS X simultaneously. For tax software the performance should be virtually the same (if not better) than a dedicated Windows machine. The downside is there is a cost (about $60-70).

Bill I've also run into a very similar problem, I own many Macs but I've had a PC for Tax Stuff. My PC broke and I refused to buy another one so I began to search for an alternative. Window's Emulators have given me so much trouble with my Tax Software.
However, I've since found out that Intuit has a cloud based tax solution that works with a MAC because it's all done online. Which means you'll need a reliable internet connection whenever you want to prepare a client's return.
It's suppose to support all of the major returns (1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120S and 990)
I use their Argus 2 wires-free camera in a non-critical application (the inevitable wi-fi lag combined with the inability of battery powered cameras to record continuously makes them a poor choice for real-time security surveillance) and I link it to the Reolink solar panel which keeps the battery charged come rain or shine. Best wifi monitoring software mac.
I've yet to use this solution, but it's the best thing that I've been able to find so far. This is what I'll be using this upcoming Tax Season.
